lyrics
Shadows from the past return
Reminders of impermanence
And Then you_________.
There’s mystery in you_______.
Sewn into the tragedy
Well presented agony
Peaceful violence, punctures the silence
Pull back the curtain, open a door then leave
Sinner or saint?
Your misbegotten son
Crossed out and struck through
His song remains unsung
God give me something to believe
Something more than just this apathy in me
Maggot minded
False horizons
Buried deep so they can’t find them
Like a vagrant
Endless searching
Overturning this perversion
Muddied waters
Cold and distant
Groping in the shallows, drowning
Shrinking circles
A hollow confession
Words we once believed are not remembered
Your misbegotten son
Is screaming out
God give me something to believe
Something more than just this apathy in me
Read the words and tell me that it’s over
Raise the alarm, raise the alarm, Rome is burning
Raise the alarm, Rome is burning, Rome is burning
Lines are blurring
Sweet divergence
Caesar’s turning
Slip the knife in
Bleed the truth_______________.
And everything - it is over_____.
Dispose of childish things it is over
Release the burden it is over

If I didn’t know any better, I’d be certain that “Reverence Through Disgust” was kicking off a Cattle Decapitation album with it’s harsh, clanky bass tone further punctuating each note. But what transpires ends up being a much more progressive effort that integrates this aforementioned menacing aggression into compositions more akin to the likes of The Ritual Aura, Exocrine, and Enfold Darkness.
